Interdialytic Weight Gain as the side effect of Hemodialysis Therapy: A Literature Review

چکیده
Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease undergo kidney replacement therapy, one of which is hemodialysis. In patients end-stage CKD, the physiological functions kidneys are reduced so that no longer able to regulate urine output. The response changes in fluid and sodium intake not functioning as it should. Excess between two hemodialysis therapies indicated by an increase body weight known Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG). High interdialytic gain associated poor survival increased mortality, due disorders cardiovascular system, edema, heart failure, hypertension. This literature study aims identify IDWG side effect therapy well complications may arise from it.

Thirst, interdialytic weight gain, and thirst-interventions in hemodialysis patients: a literature review.
A literature search completed over the period of 1980-1999 identified studies on the prevalence of thirst in hemodialysis (HD) patients and the relationship between thirst and interdialytic weight gain, as well as intervention studies in which thirst was used as an outcome variable. Twenty-three studies fulfilled the selection criteria and were included in the analysis. The prevalence of thirst...
متن کاملNutritional status and interdialytic weight gain of chronic hemodialysis patients.
INTRODUCTION The nutritional status (NS) of patients on hemodialysis (HD) is a major concern and challenge. Malnutrition is common in these patients and is related to poorer clinical outcomes. OBJECTIVES To assess the association between the NS and the interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on HD. METHODS Cross-sectional study with 322 patients older ...

BACKGROUND Interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) has been regarded as a surrogate of volume overload, but also as a marker of a better nutritional status in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients on hemodialysis (HD). This paradoxical meaning of IDWG requires further investigation, particularly in adverse cardiovascular outcomes. METHODS A prospective cohort of 1,013 incident HD patients from 36 ...
متن کاملInterdialytic weight gain as a marker of blood pressure, nutrition, and survival in hemodialysis patients.
BACKGROUND Excessive interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) is usually related to an overload of sodium and water, and is the most important factor for arterial hypertension in dialysis. On the other hand, food intake also contributes to IDWG, and is the basic factor for nutrition. The objective of this study is to assess the long-term prognostic effect of IDWG and its relationship with the nutrition...
